GINA & JON BRUNSON

GINA & JON BRUNSONA wandering stream, a forested trail – when you’re outdoors, there are many paths to take. Somehow Jon and Gina Brunson found the best path that exists in the outdoors – the shared one.

Gina grew up in a family large enough to staff more than two dozen baseball teams. By the time she was eighteen, she’d shared her house with the 250 children given foster care by her parents. Still, she found time for lots of fishing time with her dad, and also competed on school track, softball and gymnastics teams.

Jon also grew up fishing, and also added hunting and camping to the mix. He got his start helping his family raise and train English Pointers, and by the time he was eight years old, he faced a huge decision almost daily – which should he take into the woods with him, his bow or shotgun? His parents, brothers and sisters knew – if they needed to find Jon, there was no sense looking for him in the house. From sunup to sundown, Jon was exploring and hunting in the woods.

After college, Jon worked as a sales and marketing executive until at thirty years old, he launched his own marketing firm.

While running the new company, he also worked on software for the outdoor industry, and soon introduced Sportsmanlog.com, which branched into Huntinglog.com and Fishinglog.com. The websites gave outdoor enthusiasts a place to store information about their hunting and fishing outings – at 40,000 plus members, it’s still growing.

Jon and Gina met 18 years ago, and it wasn’t long before Gina’s natural competitive spirit focused on big whitetails. She’s taken several bucks that scored better than 150 including 180 inch whitetail that is the new Kentucky state record by a woman, and also record book black buck, axis deer, alligator and buffalo.

Somehow the busy couple has found time to have six children. Both say that for them, the true value of the outdoors is not in the downed game, but in watching their children learn to enjoy the outdoors as they do.

2004 found Jon and Gina welcoming another newcomer to the family – JBO Production Inc., which quickly began winning many industry awards. Due to its success, JBO Production also began to create and produce other outdoor shows, such as American Huntress and Country Boys Outdoors (featuring Chicago Bulls center Brad Miller).

In 2007, Jon and Gina packed their six children into an RV for a Florida to South Dakota road trip and whitetail hunt. It was the first show for their newest venture, Addicted to the Outdoors (ATTO), which has a revolutionary format that takes viewers along with them as they pursue game.

Choosing a name for the new show was easy, since both Jon, Gina and their children are Addicted to the Outdoors. Are they living the dream? Yes, their particular dream, where a man, his wife and their children together explore those wandering streams and forested trails of the outdoors.

Chris Brackett

Boooyah!! I love hunting gear, I mean I absolutely am Afflicted with it, finding out what’s the best and how tough it is and now I get to share with you the gear I trust my life with. I grew up in the Heartland, the cornfields of Illinois!! “Monster buck central”!!! My first word was “duck”, no really it was. Grandpa Bob was a duck hunting fool and I had my first 20 gauge bought for me by age 2. He died that Christmas but the fire was already lit, there was no looking back, I was Afflicted!!! I wanted to get close to every animal I saw. I would beg and plead for my dad to take me hunting. I am fortunate to live in such a game rich state with the best of the best at my fingertips. This however, is a double-edged sword. There were too many species to hunt. Turkey, deer, ducks, geese, pheasants and rabbits were all over. I wanted to spend every waking hour trying to not only hunt them, but go the extra mile to figure them out. I started working in outdoor sales at age 15. Getting to surround myself with hunting equipment and finding out what worked the best was a dream come true, let alone people wanting my recommendation on what to use. This fueled the fire even more! I tried everything I could get my hands on. I would try and push equipment to its limit. It became an obsession and at 16 years old I vowed to never sell out and always use the best. Remember, the best isn’t always the most expensive, but you always get what you pay for. I am blessed to be a hunter, and even more blessed to do it for a living. It’s a dream come true, but I do have to say I work harder at not working a real job than I ever did at being a mailman. That’s right, I was a mailman for four years and then had a life changing revelation and quit to chase my destiny! Well the rest is history after seven years of filming, editing, hunting on video, and definitely being the poorest guy I knew. I caught a break, actually I shot a fish out of the air. With the release of that arrow a new sport was born EXTREME AERIAL BOWFISHING! This is where we shoot flying silver carp out of the air with a bow!!! Right place, right time. This is where preparation meets opportunity! I did 13 different national shows, won two Golden Moose Awards in two years and finally was getting noticed as a midwestern boy that has a passion that is larger than life and the knowledge of a veteran hunter twice his age! Four years later, I’m the host of a top rated show called ARROW AFFLICTION! I can’t believe I’m encouraged to push it to the limit everyday! Wow, only in America. As Uncle Ted would say, “You can’t do this in France.” So, I pride myself on standing up for my values, fighting for the blue collar working men-n-women of this great USA. I work hard for my money like my daddy did and his before him, so I spend it on what works. I’ve killed more animals than winter and I trust all my equipment with my life. I m always looking for away to help introduce a new hunter to the great thing we call hunting! Shoot straight <-n--<<< Kill ‘em all!!!

Steve Criner

Steve Criner of Bolivar Missouri has been hunting for twenty years. He started hunting deer and turkey and has harvested numerous turkeys and mature deer through out the years as he became interested in calling wildlife at a young age. He still remembers running around the country side chasing deer, turkey, and squirrel with his grandfather as a young boy.

His early start of hunting and calling wildlife sparked a huge addiction to predator calling. He called his first fox at the age of sixteen with a 1978 Ford truck and a Johnny Stewart jackrabbit in distress tape and his first coyote with the Johnny Stewart 512 and cottontail in distress tape shortly after. This passion for predator hunting has taken him through an immense and trying journey for the past thirteen years. Not having the internet or predator hunting seminars in the east at the age of sixteen, he had to learn on his own and overcome the huge learning curve that new predator callers encounter. The long and drawn out learning curve is what brought on his first video production and his enthusiasm for teaching new callers and writing outdoors articles.

Steve was given the opportunity of being a field pro staff member in the spring of 07 for Hunter’s Specialties and has since been made a National Pro Staff member. Since joining the H.S. team he conducts seminars all over the country and films for the Operation Predator video series. Along with hunting and filming Steve also writes outdoor articles that have been featured in some of industries top predator hunting magazines.

During Steve’s career as a predator hunter he has spent most of his time hunting in the Midwest and eastern United States, He has logged as many as 200 days calling in just one year and has called in as many as 76 coyotes in Missouri in one season. He also hunts in several different coyote hunting contest such as the St Francis and the World Championships.
